Dr. Yuliya Krylova-Grek (National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy / Uppsala University) delivered a lecture examining Russian media discourse through a legal and linguistic lens, with a focus on human rights violations and incitement to genocide.
Adopting a multidisciplinary methodology, she presented tools for identifying incitement in public communication, including cases requiring psycholinguistic expertise. The study analyzed content from 2014 to 2023 across online media, television, Telegram channels, and video platforms like YouTube and Rutube, focusing on sources with over 50,000 subscribers.

Krylova-Grek demonstrated how hate speech gradually escalates into hate crimes and their justification, highlighting the role of media in normalizing violence. Her research underscores the importance of monitoring and contextualizing such rhetoric to address the legal and ethical dimensions of propaganda in times of war.
