Dr. habil. Nataliia Lazebna (Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg), Dr. Elena Dieser (Academic Advisor, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg), and Dr. Kateryna Lut (National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, Ukraine) delivered a joint lecture focusing on the educational and social integration of Ukrainian refugee students in Germany. Drawing on their earlier research—most notably the chapter “Educational and Social Integration Challenges of Ukrainian Refugee Students in Würzburg, Germany” — the speakers provided deep insight into the multifaceted challenges faced by displaced learners.
The presentation highlighted findings from the research-based project “Linguistic Support and Integration of Refugee Children and Adolescents from Ukraine in Würzburg” and emphasized the implementation of AI tools in refugee education. Innovative applications such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Diffit, Educaplay, LearningApps, Wordwall, InVideo, Perplexity, Book Creator, and Mizou were discussed as pedagogical resources that respond directly to the needs identified in prior studies. The use of these tools not only fosters student motivation and enhances knowledge retention but also promotes inclusive and differentiated learning strategies. The project thus demonstrates a practical, future-oriented approach to supporting refugee students through technology-enhanced integration.
