Dr. Nataliia Sorokina, PhD (University of Innsbruck), delivers a lecture introducing the project „Doing literary translation with the Master“. The main goal of the project was to present Ukraine, its language, culture, and history by working with authentic literary texts and getting acquainted with an outstanding contemporary Ukrainian writer and translator in person. The practical outcome was supplying students with the opportunity to test their language skills in a controlled environment simulating real-life applications of their knowledge. The data received from the conducted after-project survey among the participants indicate achieved learning outcome – widening students’ general awareness of Ukraine, developing professional competence including mediation skills realized in advanced translation. In addition, the survey results demonstrate rising educational motivation level and positive students’ attitude to collaborative work, practice-oriented activities in a project-based learning framework.
